Waterloo Pool Will Be Closing Early for the Season
Officials from the city of Waterloo confirmed that a popular local pool will be closing much earlier for the season than expected.
It was announced that Byrnes Pool, located at 801 Campbell Avenue in Waterloo, will be closed for the rest of the summer. The pool closed on Tuesday, July 23rd.
Byrnes opened for the 2024 season on June 1st and was supposed to stay open until August 9th, according to the official website.

Why Are They Closing Early?
The early closure of the pool is due to a mechanical pump failure, according to officials.
This has caused some of the swim lessons scheduled at this facility to be cancelled.
“We have made every attempt to move as many lessons indoors at the Cedar Valley SportsPlex, but sadly are not able to accommodate everyone due to space and the skills required for the class,” says Bri Boss, Aquatics and Safety Services Specialist.
Specifically, infant, toddler, level 5, and level 6 lessons have been cancelled, according to the official website page.
However, Preschool 1, Preschool 2, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 classes will be continuing at the Cedar Valley Sportsplex indoor pool.
These lessons will take place during the regularly scheduled time and are effective immediately.
What About Byrnes Season Pool Pass Holders?
If you are a Byrnes Season Pass holder, the Aquatics Specialist will contact you via email. These season passes are not valid at the Cedar Valley Sportsplex.
Only Individual and Family Pool passes will be issued a courtesy credit on the account that they used to purchase the pool pass.
The courtesy credit does not expire and can be used on any future programming or season pass. In addition, Senior passes and Lap Swim passes will not receive a courtesy credit.
No cash/check/credit card refunds will be issued.
