I have never been to or even seen a Buc-ee’s in the wild. I've heard great things, however. I'd love to visit one in Eastern Iowa. Heck, if it's that great, I'd drive to Des Moines.

But alas, with news of expansion for the popular country store, a gas station, one-stop convenience shop, also known for its food options, may disappoint Iowans.

Buc-ee’s is Growing

Buc-ee’s has announced many new stores set to open between this year and 2027.

The Texas-based chain will soon expand to other states like Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, Mississippi, Kentucky, and even our neighbors in Wisconsin will have a location by 2027.

But what about an Iowa location?

Sorry, no dice for us. With over 15 new stores announced to open by 2027, there's certainly hope Iowa will eventually get a location, but it's not on the horizon yet.

What is Buc-ee's All About?

Buc-ee’s was founded in 1982. If you're wondering why the mascot is a beaver, it's based on the founder/owner's nickname, Arch "Beaver" Aplin III.

The chain is known for having the cleanest restrooms and holds several world records. One of these is for the largest convenience store. The Luling, Texas location is a massive 75,593 square feet.

Unfortunately, they're not going to be setting any new records in Iowa for the foreseeable future.

We'll have to head northeast to Wisconsin to visit a Bucc-ee's if we need to get our fix.

I do have some good news: you won't have to go nearly as far to enjoy many of the top burger chains in 2025! We don't have 'em all, but we have several.
