Amazon Prime Video Finally Premieres Show Featuring UNI

The University of Northern Iowa is the subject of an episode of an award-winning streaming series.

Months ago, we shared with you information of an Amazon Prime Video streaming series called "The College Tour." Each episode zeroes in on a different college or university and takes the viewers on a journey to get to know the students and campus.

Ultimately, the goal of the entire series is to connect students with different colleges that they may not be too familiar with.

"Real college students telling real stories about campuses around the world."

The Executive Producer and host of the "The College Tour" is Alex Boylan. You might remember Boylan from his time on CBS’s Amazing Race. He won the race when he was just 23 years-old and went on to have a successful career both behind and in front of the camera.

As reported on the official University of Northern Iowa website, Boylan shared his thoughts about his trip to the campus last year.

“The University of Northern Iowa offers students an extraordinary experience, and we’re so excited to share that on ‘The College Tour,’” said Alex Boylan. “For students, choosing which college to attend is a monumental decision, and this episode gives prospective students a firsthand look at what makes this school so special.”

The television crew for this show came to the Cedar Valley during the fall of 2022. They followed and documented ten different UNI students' experiences at the college.

In an interview with the Northern Iowa, UNI’s Director of University Relations Pete Moris said that the ten students,

"...did an amazing job. Really what we were trying to do was get a cross section of not only different backgrounds, majors, and hometowns. Our goal was to find some folks who were passionate about UNI and to share their experiences.”

University of Northern Iowa students and staff got a first look at the finalized project over the winter. They had their very own screening on campus as well as a virtual watch party on that same evening in early February.

A preview for the full episode was posted onto the UNI YouTube page several months ago. You can check that out down below!

Now, the full episode has finally premiered on Amazon Prime Video. We previously reported that it would be made available to the general public on June 29th. It seems that the team behind this programming decided to drop it just one month shy of the initial release date.
