A Cedar Rapids restaurant is in the process of making their space even bigger!

Thanks to a couple of new posts on Facebook, we now know that Mas Margaritas in Cedar Rapids is about to increase in size! The popular Mexican restaurant, located at 588 Boyson Rd NE, is expanding their space to make room for more hungry Iowans. The latest post reads:

"Our new space is moving along… we’re so excited to have the opportunity to grow & provide even more space to serve our wonderful customers!"

I spoke with one of the owners of Mas Margaritas this morning, and they informed me that they'll be adding about 80 more seats. Not only that, but they are also remodeling the existing side and putting in a bigger bar. They added:

"Our main focus has really been getting the kitchen bigger so we can still continue to provide quality food for our customers in an efficient and timely manner. Because we make everything fresh from scratch, such as our tortillas, tamales & chile rellenos, we need to have more space in order to accommodate more seating. We are also planning on adding more delicious authentic plates to our menu."

Mas Margaritas did have to close one day this week to work on the kitchen, but otherwise it has remained open to customers throughout the construction process. There's no word yet on when the expansion will be finished, but they promise to keep folks updated on their progress via the official Facebook page. You can follow the page HERE.

The people behind Mas Margaritas are also hard at work on a brand new sister restaurant called Mamacita Taco Bar. It's located at 834 1st Ave NE in the building that once housed Grey's Pub and Moose McDuffy's. It's expected to open in the near future.
