2021 Iowa High School Girls Volleyball Rankings

With post-season action getting underway this week, several high school volleyball teams from the Cedar Valley and northeast Iowa are considered strong contenders to win a state championship.

The final rankings of the 2021 season released on Monday feature 16 teams from the region. Half of those rated squads are members of the North Iowa Cedar League.

Defending Class 2A state champion Dike-New Hartford is the highest ranked among all of the them. The Wolverines (48-1) started and ended the season ranked at No. 1 is a heavy favorite to win the title again next month. Also ranked in the 2A survey is: Sumner-Fredericksburg (No. 5), Denver (No. 6), Wapsie Valley (No. 8), South Hardin (No. 10) and Grundy Center (No. 15).

The other NICL teams ranked are in Class 1A: Gladbrook-Reinbeck (No. 11) and AGWSR (No. 15). The poll also features Iowa Star Conference rivals Dunkerton (No. 9), Janesville (No. 10) and North Tama (No. 12).

Two area teams -- West Delaware (No. 2) and Independence (No. 15) -- are featured in the Class 3A rankings. Waverly-Shell Rock (No. 3 in Class 4A), Decorah (No. 12 in Class 4A) and Cedar Falls (No. 4 in Class 5A) are also considered to be among the best teams in their respective classes this year.
