It's always great to hear about new businesses opening up in Eastern Iowa. Especially when said business involves any type of food, right?

A diner that you might be familiar with has opened for business right in Waterloo this month.

We shared with you last year the news that a restaurant that had been closed for nearly a decade would be opening up again in 2023.

Carpenters Diner in Waterloo closed its doors for the final time in 2012, according to an article from the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Courier.

The restaurant closed after the death of one of the owners, John Carpenter. They were in business for nearly 37 years. However, at the beginning of July 2022 the Facebook page started to become active again.

Carpenters used to be located across from the police station in Waterloo and will now be across the street from Basal Pizza in the old Subway.

Located at 518 Jefferson Street in Waterloo, Carpenters reopened for business on Sunday, October 22nd.

The owner of the new diner, Michael Carpenter, shared his excitement at the opening on social media.

"I'm truly blessed with the family and friends that helped me in making this reality. I can't thank you enough. You know who you are and you will forever hold a special place in my heart."

This new diner will be open for breakfast and lunch. For more information, make sure to follow Carpenters Diner on social media.
