Iowa is finally experiencing the full force of winter.

The second week back after the holiday break has almost been an extended vacation for kids in Eastern Iowa. Earlier this week, the storm system that swung through the Hawkeye State caused major school cancelations.

And winter isn't done with us quite yet.

The predicted snowstorm caused many school officials to make the call on Thursday, January 11th and close schools.

More Winter Weather Is On the Way!

The winter weather is set to continue into the weekend. Our weather partners at KCRG are reporting that falling snow is covering the roadways and making travel difficult. Friday evening into Saturday will reportedly see blizzard-like conditions.

According to officials, "gusts of 40-50 mph will be seen, easily blowing the snow around and reducing visibility."

There will be a cold drop over the weekend into the negative temperatures. KCRG officials claim that it is possible that we will see wind chills of -20 to -40 degrees over the weekend.
