Just after Valentine's Day, Metro Records came under new ownership. Johnny Metro who opened the store in 1994, announced on social media that he had sold it to longtime customer, Austin Wise.

"We want to thank all our customers for their support and can’t wait to see Austin’s vision for the store as we pass the torch."

Wise expressed just how happy he is to be taking over the mantle of the record store. Metro has played a big role in his life.

He's been a regular customer at Metro Records ever since he was in high school. This was also the first ever record store that he shopped at.

The record store temporarily closed for construction in mid-February. Wise said the store would be getting a bit of a facelift ahead of their grand re-opening in the spring.

Now, the store located at 805 E 18th Street in Cedar Falls is just about to re-open for business. The new owner said that he's spent the past month refurbishing Metro. He's doubled the size of the shop floor, painted the store, built new storage bins, AND has even added some new record collections to the inventory.

Saturday, April 1st Wise will celebrate all of his hard work with a grand re-opening of Metro Records. Going forward, the vinyl store will operate five days a week, from Tuesday to Saturday 11am-7pm. They will be closed Sunday and Monday.
